Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Kigali City Tour

Your unforgettable 17 Days Rwanda Gorillas and Uganda Wildlife Safari begins on arrival at Kigali International Airport as you are picked up by your driver guide who will transfer you to the hotel for freshening up. Dependent on your time of arrival into Kigali, you will drive around the street and demeanor a Kigali city tour with a up-to-dated guide on the history and livelihood of Rwanda.

Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

After breakfast, you will start your journey to Nyungwe Forest National Park with a driving distance from Kigali to Nyungwe Forest National Park is approximately 225 km and lasting 7-8 hours with lunch en route.

The expedition is very attractive with a number of interesting historical sites, such as the National Museum, Nyanza King’s Palace, the Cathedral and Gikongoro Genocide Memorial alongside a demo by the “Intore” dancers.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking & Canopy Walk

With breakfast, you will set off for the park headquarters for a briefing on the guidelines of Chimpanzee Trekking. After a short briefing, start the walk on your 17 Days Rwanda Gorillas and Uganda Wildlife Safari as you pursue for the resident chimpanzees inside the forest. After bumping into them, you will spend a really pleasant hour watching them leap from branches, build nests from leaves in the treetops, and play and groom each other.

Arrival to the lodge for lunch and set off for the canopy walk at Uwinka park headquarters, the canopy is located 50 meters above the ground and 200 meters long gives you an exciting tree-to-eye view of Nyungwe forest and the birds flying over. Overnight at the lodge.

Day 4: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast and a packed lunch, you will drive to Uganda through the Cyanika border presenting amazing views of the Volcanoes. Advance to the border and enter into Uganda through Kisoro and to the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, known as the Ishasha plains. Be on the lookout for the famous for its tree-climbing lions. It is a tremendous sight to see the lions swathed from the trees in the large low limbed fig trees.

On entrance, enjoy an evening game drive as you watch the sun at a appropriate viewing point either along the ridge area or besides the Ntungwe River allowing you to flavor the atmosphere of this attractive area of the park.

Day 7: Game drive and Launch Cruise on the Kazinga Channel

After an early breakfast, you will enjoy an early morning game drive which is usually most rewarding which is best known for the lions which prey on large population of Uganda Kob at the Kob mating ground that live in this area.

Continue to the Mweya peninsula and embark on a boat safari along the Kazinga Channel lasting approximately 2 hours on the 36km Channel connecting two Rift Valley lakes: Edward and George with immerse concentration of hippos at close range, spot over 100 species of water birds, marvel at the majestic elephants in their natural habitat and the crocodiles sunbathing on the channel bank.

Day 10: Sempaya Hot springs and Pygmy Community visit

With a meeting in the morning, embark on exhilarating drive to the Sempaya Hot Springs – ringed by the forest, palm trees and veiled in a cloud of steam. The largest spring is a geyser shooting up from an 8m-wide opening in a low salt sculpture with the emerging water at a temperature of more than 100ºC.

Later your driver guide will drive you to the local Pygmy community and learn about the Pygmy traditionally nomadic lifestyle.

Day 11: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

Early in the morning, enjoy an early morning and set off to Murchison falls- one of the highpoints of your Rwanda Gorillas and Uganda Wildlife Safari. You will drive through the landscape along the Albertine escarpment of the Western Rift Valley with amazing views green tea plantations, hills with terrace gardens and thick tropical rainforests including the well-known Bugungu wildlife game reserve.

Day 12: Game drives and Boat cruise to the bottom of Murchison Falls

Enjoy an early morning game drive to the Albertine Delta with best wildlife viewing like elephants, buffalos, lions, orbis, Nile crocodiles, hippos, giraffes, bush bucks, waterbucks and many more.

Return to the lodge for lunch and relax before embarking on a boat trip to the bottom of the falls which takes around 3 hours. This boat trip along the Nile is often cited as being the climax of a trip to Murchison Falls National Park since it allows you to get up-close and personal with the animals. Hike the top of the falls and you will be refreshed by the fresh sprays of the Nile River.

Day 13: Boat Trip to the Delta and Game drive

With another early rise, you will conduct a boat trip to the Nile delta in search of the shoe billed stork. Return to the lodge for lunch and later enjoy another game drive discovering the amazing wildlife.

Day 14: Rhino Tracking at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

With a breakfast, you will drive to Ziwa Rhino sanctuary as you enjoy beautiful drive via Karuma falls on to the sanctuary will take approx 3 hrs to get there. Seeing rhinos in their natural environment, up close and in person is a memorable experience and is the only place in Uganda to view them in their natural habitat.

Later we will transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park-the hidden gem in Uganda, where will enjoy the beautiful drive of the scenery, dispersed villages and dotted vegetation.

Day 15: Game drives and Nature Walks

Game drives and walks in Kidepo Valley National Park are another highpoint or your 17 Days Rwanda Gorillas and Uganda Wildlife Safari, take a walking safari along the sandy dry river bed fringed with palm trees, climb to the top of a stony outcrop and take in the views.

You will walk along isolated tracks to fully escalate all around you and in-search of tracks and any signs of the animal movements. You may take a walk to track the lions, or even cheetah and you will always have surrounded by Zebra, Waterbuck, Jackson’s Hartebeest, Warthogs, Patas monkeys and big herds of Buffalo.

Day 16: Transfer to Entebbe
